About me

The biggest part of my life I have been on the run. Searching for a place that I could call home. Now that I finally found my place in this world, art changed from being solely used for expression to wanting to make a change in our society. I often find myself two feet deep in whatever subject I am working with. Driven by passion for a better world, I create work relating to sexual health and harassment, mental health, trauma, archives and other subjects that I feel connected to.

 

Mouena, a multi-media artist based in the Netherlands, explores the boundaries of creativity through various artistic disciplines. Besides photography, she works with; illustration, fine art, tattooing, film making and writing. She gained recognition for her award-winning work "Scrambled Sex" at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. The diverse range of practices allows her to express her artistic vision to fit a subject in unique ways with an open attitude and an eye for detail. Through her art, Mouena strives to evoke emotions, challenge perspectives, and ignite meaningful conversations.
